Low Calorie

Fibre One – Yummy but addictive

I was a week or two into my diet when they organised a Morning Tea at work. Oh no, how do I avoid all the cakes and treats without appearing boring, especially when it was raising money for charity. All hail, the Fibre One appeared. 90 calories – surely it must take like every other crappy low calorie sweet treat? Actually, I was absolutely blown away by it. Probably because I’d gone from eating 2000 calories of snacks every night to a 1200 a day diet which didn’t allow for many treats.

I tried the salted caramel one first and it really did satisfy my craving for something sweet. It’s very much like a cake or slice and extremely sweet. I took mouse like bites so it lasted as long as possible and savoured every last crumb. I then went in search of the little saviours and it took me a week to track them down as they’re new to New Zealand. The Lemon Drizzle is like lemon drizzle cake and the chocolate fudge brownies have lovely little chocolatey fudge pieces. Yum.

I am glad they’ve gone up in price since I stocked up on them as I ended up eating about 4 each night and it made me crave more sweet things. Guess it shows that once an addict, always an addict. If you have self-control and can feel satisfied with a palm-sized treat then these are perfect. I’m too tight to pay $4.59 for a box of 5 after paying less than $3 for my first box.
